GOD'S LOVE REVEALED
"The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!'" (John 1:20)
The Sin of The WorldReading the first book of the Bible called Genesis, you'd realize Adam and Eve (the first humans) were very privileged: living in a beautiful garden made specially by God for them. They lacked nothing, they had dominion over everything else God made, and they were very close friends with God.
But then, just as husbands and wives often fall apart as a result of offenses, Adam and Eve fell off from their special relationship with God, through an offense they wouldn't accept responsibility for. Everyone blamed somebody else for an offense committed by all. Does this sound familiar?
This is how sin entered the world and has persisted up to today. This falling away by the whole human race from our relationship with God is referred to as the sin of the world.
In almost every culture/religion, the blood of animals was, and in some cases, is still used to atone wrongdoings. It's the same with the Israelites too. In fact, God Himself instructed them through Moses, their prophet and leader, to offer the blood of animals to Him for the atonement of their sins. But what about the rest of the world whom God equally loved (you and me, who may not necessarily be Israelites)?
John Sees Jesus Coming
There was a man in early 1st century AD Israel called John. He was a prophet whose birth had been prophesied centuries earlier, as a forerunner to announce and prepare the people of Israel (God's chosen people) for the beginning of the work of His Son (Jesus) on earth; to redeem mankind from the power of sin and hell, for "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life".
Jesus did come healing all manner of sicknesses, feeding the hungry, raising the dead back to life, etc. Everything he did was good. Then in the end God allowed Him to be crucified for the remission of the sin of the world. An innocent lamb of God sacrificed for the sin of you and me.
So, John the Baptist identified Him as "the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." By so doing God, through His Son Jesus did not only cleanse us from our sins but redeemed those who would accept His gracious gift of life from all the powers of hell.
What Jesus did for mankind
Imagine you live in a nation where an offense is punishable by hanging. One morning, as the hour of executions, approached, the king, moved by compassion for his condemned subjects, decides to exchange the life of his only son who had never committed any offense in his entire life for them, to give them a second chance. That is exactly what God did when He sent Jesus to die for mankind.
Invitation
Would you accept God's gracious gift of forgiveness through His Son Jesus? He wants to be a friend who is closer than a brother to you. If you'd open the door of your heart to God, He will come into your life and change your life for the better. He will fill every emptiness and give you satisfaction and meaning to life. Your sins will be blotted out, they'd not be remembered anymore, and you'd become a brand new person in Jesus.

Thank you, God, for letting Jesus die for me a sinner. I repent from my sins. Come into my life and take over. Be my Lord and savior. Today, I commit my life to you. To live for you, and die for you. Turn my life around for the better. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, know that God has forgiven your former ways and all of heaven (God and His billions of angels) are rejoicing because of you.
