GOD DEMONSTRATED HIS LOVE
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begot;16ten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
When I was little, I used to be very afraid of life after death. Some nights, in bed, I would reflect on my sins. I just knew I was doomed to hell because I had gotten to hear in Sunday School about the existence of hell and heaven. I had never heard about God being a loving God, so I only saw Him as this judge who would one day have me cast into this lake of fire where I would suffer eternally.
At one point, I tried to convince myself that hell did not exist but fortunately my older brothers reassured me of it and I became scared and more careful once again. But irrespective of what I did or did not do, there wasn't any assurance of me not ending up in God's eternal punishment. Though I was scared, I couldn't stop doing the things that I knew would lead me to end up in hell.
By the time I turned fourteen, an older brother of mine had been to a Scripture Union camp. He came back preaching to us his younger siblings about the love of God. He explained the scripture to us using several Bible verses including John 3:16-17,
God so loved the world that he gave his only Son as a sacrifice for the sin of humanity so that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life. The reason is that God did not send His Son Jesus to the world to judge and condemn it, but that through Him, the world may be saved.
As a matter of fact, God Almighty, creator of all things whose greatness cannot be imagined or measured is not happy about anyone's suffering. Neither does He even throw anyone into a fiery furnace. It is our own sins that send us there. But you see, though the heavenly Father is very compassionate toward us, He is also so, so, Holy that he can't withstand sin. That is why persons with their sins not forgiven, do end up in hell when they die.
So, what did God our loving Father do? He provided a way out by allowing His Son Jesus to be offered as a sacrifice once and for all for the sins of mankind.
"Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you." (Acts 13:38)

Would you accept God's gracious gift of forgiveness through His Son Jesus? He wants to be a friend who is closer than a brother to you. If you'd open the door of your heart to God, He will come into your life and change your life for the better. He will fill every emptiness and give you satisfaction and meaning to life. Your sins will be blotted out, they'd not be remembered anymore, and you'd become a brand new person in Jesus.
Thank you, God, for letting Jesus die for me a sinner. I repent from my sins. Come into my life and take over. Be my Lord and savior. Today, I commit my life to you. To live for you, and die for you. Turn my life around for the better. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, know that God has forgiven your former ways and all of heaven (God and His billions of angels) are rejoicing because of you.
